List of speakers:

François BRUN (ACTA – French Technical Institutes) is a scientist specialized in methods for agricultural systems modeling and data analysis for farming. He leads a network on Digital Agriculture which gathers specialists on different subjects from big data to robotic.
As research activities, one of his main interests concerns the reliability of model predictions and how model uncertainty can be presented to final model users. One other subject is how to combine different sources of information (especially simulation and observation data). He is involved in several collaborative projects related to these subjects:
– The Network Modeling and Data Analysis for Agriculture (www.modelia.org) which gathers modelers and statisticians from agricultural research institutes (such as ARVALIS – Institut du Végétal and Terres Inovia), public research institutions and other agricultural stakeholders. This network has existed since 2007 and is funded by French Ministry of Agriculture.
– The project « Improve the synergy between networks of observations and modeling in the French pest and disease monitoring networks » which gathers modelers, statisticians and agricultural advisors in order to make better use of field observations data already collected and existing modeling tools to improve the quality of the diagnoses and predictions.
Some productions:
– D. Wallach, D. Makowski, J.W. Jones et F. Brun. 2014. Working with Dynamic Crop Models, 2nd Edition. Methods, Tools and Examples for Agriculture and Environment. Elsevier
– ACTA. 2016. White paper “The access to the data for the Research and the Innovation in Agriculture. Position of Agricultural Technical institutes”. www.acta.asso.fr/numerique

Gilles GUILLOT is a data scientist with over twenty years of research and consultancy experience in the field of data mining, stochastic modelling and risk analysis with applications in biological and environmental sciences. He currently a scientific administrator at the European Food Safety Authority where his work is focused on methodological developments and data analysis in the field of eco-toxicology. Dr. Guillot obtained a Master in geostatistics from Mines ParisTech in 1995 and a PhD in geophysics from the University in Grenoble in 1998. His earlier appointments include researcher at INRA, the French research institute for agronomy and environment 1999-2007, researcher at the university of Oslo 2007-2009, associate professor and research group leader at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Sciences of the Technical University of Denmark 2009-20015. Dr. Guillot also worked as a consultant with the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation and for various public contractors in Scandinavia. He has a long experience in teaching and capacity building in the field of statistics, including as a guest lecturer in more than fifteen countries worldwide.

Théo-Paul HAEZEBROUCK (ACTA -French Technical Institutes) is an agro-informatics engineer specialized in data exchanges (especially through web API) and data enhancement (models and applications feeding, data display). He is also the product manager of the API-AGRO platform, a data and services digital platform for stakeholders of the agriculture sector. He is thus in charge of its developments and of expanding its use. Théo-Paul leads discussions with developers and engineers in order to match their needs and help them in understanding the benefits of the platform in their fields.
Besides these main missions, he also takes part in other projects:
– Digital Agriculture network (data-related topics).
– Creation and diffusion of national datasets for the French Research and Development Institutes.
– Digitisation of ACTA’s products and methods.

Pascal NEVEU is Director of Mistea Laboratory at Montpellier SupAgro-INRA. He is the head of INRA Cati CODEX, center dedicated to data and knowledge management. He leads work packages dedicated to data and knowledge management in several international projects. He teaches at the University of Montpellier and the School of Agricultural Engineering, topics related to computer science, numerical computing and Information management. His area of expertise is Data sciences, Heterogeneous data source management, Data semantic. Pascal is member of DIGITAG the French digital agricultural institute. It conducts research to address major societal challenges: stabilize global warming, food security, ensure the energy transition, build agriculture of the future, prepare Open Science and Big Data.

Michael VEDSØ is economic Advisor at the European Commission Representation in Denmark. He holds a Masters’ degree in economics from the University of Copenhagen. Michael Vedsø has been a European Commission civil servant since 1994, and has worked on a range of economic themes, including forecasting, international economic affairs and economic reforms.
