With Mary Teuw Niane, Minister for Higher Education and Research

Launched with a lavish ceremony at the French residence in Cap Manuel on 24 November 2016, the France Alumni Senegal platform is a service designed to supplement the rapprochement between the two countries through Senegalese students who studied in French higher education.

By the term alumni, Campus France Office, the initiator of the project, means the graduates from a university (from Latin term alumnus, meaning student). Bolstering 10,000 students, the Senegalese ranks present every year in French higher education is the most significant of the African continent South of the Sahara, according to French ambassador in Senegal Jean-Christophe Bigot.

To prove the strong bonds between Senegalese former students and French universities, the Minister for Higher Education and Research Mary Teuw Niane described his personal career, which drove him to the cities of Orleans, Tours and Toulouse after the Senegal: "France is a host country for pupils and students, a land of culture, science, technology, exchange and solidarity."

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development had launched France Alumni in order to "bring together, inform and guide international students who studied in the French higher education system". The digital social network is made of an interactive directory, discussion centres and theme groups. In the sections restricted to major French companies, job offers are frequently updated by 400 companies already registered in the global network, which registers for now over 50,000 alumni in 60 countries.

France Alumni defines itself in the French-speaking world as the "platform of reference for international alumni who wish to value their experience by joining a large French-speaking network."
