[Alumni of the Month / November 2022] Abhimanyu Panwar

Here’s his take on his life in France, his work and how he developed his niche in offbeat sports – a road less travelled by many.

Q: Can you tell us how you became a professional sailor?
A: I have been into the sport of sailing for more than 16 years now and have won various international and national medals. Over the years I realized that there is a problem with awareness and accessibility when it comes to various offbeat sports in India. So, I started a company called Sportifying India which offers a community for offbeat sports enthusiasts!

Q: How have your studies in France helped you to create this company? 
A: My education in France gave me the knowledge and confidence to set up my company right from the scratch and also provided me with a network that helps me build a community of like-minded people in India. The education in France was very practical which helped me
gain confidence in not just planning my approach for setup but also implementing the plan in reality.

Q: What are your plans for the future? 
My plans for the near future are to work and develop a project like Sportifying India into a brand that becomes a synonym for offbeat experiences in India and around the world. I also want to improve my skills in the sport of sailing and continue taking up new challenges.

Q: What kind of partnerships are you looking for?
A: I normally want companies to start exploring offbeat activities for their employees to try out within their cities.  Apart from that, if a brand wants to collaborate with us to create more value for their customer then we are more than happy to create a special cross-marketing
plan!
