REX Animation film festival: 2017 edition

The French Institute of Sweden, member of EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) Stockholm, organizes with 12 other institutes or cultural services of European embassies, the third edition of the animation festival Rex.

Enjoy a delightful selection of more than 50 films during five days in the movie theater Klarabiografen (Kulturhus and Stadsteatern) in Stockholm.

Short movies or feature films, conferences or workshops and projections for students, the program is made for all: young and adults. You are sure to find a genre you like: Humoristic, adventure, suspense, etc.
Come to enjoy the best of European animation!

The festival starts on October 11th  at 6.30 pm, with the full length feature, Loving Vincent, produced by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman. It is the very first movie realized only with paintings of the famous painter Vincent van Gogh. In total, 150 professional painters from the entire world worked on the 65,000 images of the movie.

 
The French film  « Tout en Haut du Monde » by Rémi Chavé (2016, 80 min.)  will close the festival Sunday 15th October at 5.15pm.

The majority of the movies are in original version. The movies subtitles are in English. Some movies (young audience) are without dialogues
Last year, the festival initiated the “Rex Student Animation Award”. This initiative became a tradition; the second year following a competition was organized during the festival for all animation students in all the Swedish schools.
Vote for your favorite movie!
For the first time this year, the festival allows the spectators to vote for their favorite movie. Everyone could give its vote and at the winner name would be issued at the end of the festival.
