Movie-talk evening on the role of media in conflicts

Groupe "Norvège"

Screening of the French film "Sympathy for the Devil", followed by a talk on the role of media in conflicts

Join us at Institut français de Norvège to discover the movie Sympathy for the Devil and have a discussion on the role of journalists in war settings

We invite you to discover the French-Canadian-Belgian war drama film Sympathy for the Devil (100 min), directed by Guillaume de Fontenay in 2019. Based on the book written by the French war correspondent Paul Marchand, the film stars Niels Schneider as Marchand covering the Bosnian War in the 1990s. Multi-awarded in Canada, the movie raises moral questions and depicts the reality of war correspondents, highly contemporary themes in the context of the conflicts in Ukraine and Palestine.

Synopsis: “1992, war is raging in what will become Ex-Yugoslavia. Paul is covering the siege of Sarajevo. Racing through Sniper's Alley in his white Ford, the Frenchman relentlessly tells the apathetic western world about the ongoing massacre. In a urban war zone where everything that moves is a target, Paul tries to live, love and inform.”.
