As a chamber musician, he has collaborated with pianists Nelson Freire and Elisso Virsaladze, soprano Eliane Coelho, violinists Geza Hosszu-Legocky and violinist Daniel Rowland.

His interest in contemporary music and other forms of artistic expression have led to numerous collaborations with composers Sérgio Rodrigo and Samir Odeh-Tamimi, actor Charles Gonzáles, visual artist François Andes and Mac Adams, as well as with the photographer Antanas Sutkus.

Luiz Gustavo Carvalho is the founder and artistic director of Festival Artes Vertentes in Tiradentes (Brazil) and since 2012 has been the artistic director of the ZEITKUNST Festival in Berlin.
