Περιγραφή θέσης

Caritas Cyprus is seeking to fill two positions for part-time Cultural Mediators with French language skills. The Cultural Mediators will use interpersonal and language skills to provide assistance to migrants, asylum seekers and refugees ('beneficiaries') who are trying to access administrative and health services in Cyprus.
POSITION 1-Cultural Mediator at Migrant Center-will entail working 2 hours per day, 5 days per week in the Caritas Migrant Center in Nicosia.
POSITION 2-Roving Cultural Mediator-will entail working 6 hours per day, 3 times per week accompanying beneficiaries on appointments mainly at the General and Makarios hospitals in Nicosia.
Responsabilities:
* Provide in-person verbal cultural mediation and interpretation (Greek-French)
* Communicate accurately the content, style and nuance of verbal communication between beneficiaries and those providing them with services (Caritas staff, administrators, hospital personnel, landlords and employers)
* Support mutual understanding between conversation participants and provide timely and accurate information to address any needs and concerns
* Advocate on behalf of beneficiaries if needed and promote increased understanding of local context where appropriate
* Communicate any necessary follow-up actions or case updates to those responsible for overall case management
* Maintain accurate records of appointments


Profil recherché

• Fluency in Greek and French and strong English required
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Service-oriented, flexible, discreet and able to maintain strict standards of confidentiality
• Attentive to details and accepting of cultural differences
• Experience working with vulnerable groups preferred
