FRENCH WOMAN ELECTED BEST PASTRY CHEF IN THE WORLD!

For the first time, a woman, a French woman, was elected by her peers best pastry chef in the world. The Les grandes tables du monde association, counting 174 food institutions from all over the world, just granted her a rare and well-deserved acknowledgement.

At 41 years old, after working her magic for 20 years in a major Parisian restaurant, Christelle Buafinally managed to join the very exclusive club of best pastry chefs in the world. In this industry, women rarely manage to win their place and rise above the “grands chefs”’ hats!

Christelle Brua is a proof of the excellence of French trainings. She started her studies in Culinary Arts after passing a baccalauréat in literature, and passed CAP degree in cooking-pastry and a BEP degree in cooking. In 1998, she was named best apprentice in Moselle, here region of origin, and passed her professional degree. Since then, her reputation never stopped growing, and she already won several distinctions. Today, she is pastry chef at Le Pré Catalan restaurant, a Parisian restaurant boasting 3 stars in the reputed Michelin guide.

She won the most envied prize of “Best Pastry Chef in the World” with her iconic dessert, inspired by candy apples sold in funfairs. Her dessert is a sugar apple stuffed by Carambar ice cream, caramel, cider and popping candy.
