From 25 May to 10 June, France puts Latin America and the Caribbean in the spotlights with its 10th edition of the Latin American and Caribbean Week (LACW). This is an opportunity to organise more than 400 cultural, scientific, political, economic and festive events, and to promote the richness of past and present relations woven between this region of the world and France.

Discovering the creative richness of the region

The 2023 programme uses the initiatives of embassies Latin American and Caribbean countries in France, associations, higher education and research institutions, museums or art galleries. From Bordeaux to Mulhouse and Montpellier, from Paris to Lima, from Lille to Mexico, the Weeks offer to the public a broad presentation of the Latin-American and Caribbean creativity in France and of the interest of the French for this region.

More than 400 events are organised:

  • film screenings,
  • concerts, shows,
  • exhibitions,
  • workshops, tastings,
  • conferences, round tables, literary meetings, and more

Political and economic meetings

This edition 2023 will also focus on political, educational and economic meetings to think the relationship between Latin America, the Caribbean area and France, value current partnership agreements and develop synergies to face the current challenges.

So the International Economic Forum for Latin America and the Caribbean, organised by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Inter-American Development Bank, and the French Agency for Development (AFD) will gather high level Latin-American and French participants.

The Americas Institute will display a broad range of specialists focusing on the subject of raw materials in its annual international symposium organised with the support of the AFD and the EU-LAC Foundation.

An initiative built to last

In 2011, the “Day of Latin America and the Caribbean” was launched by the French Senate to celebrate and improve the bonds between the countries of this region and France.

In 2014, the “Day” became a “Week”, or rather “Weeks” organised and driven by the ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

And over the years, the Week has become in turn scholarly, popular or festive, but always a must, in Paris and throughout France. They became a high-time of shared meetings and thinking between Latin America, the Caribbean and France.
