The Ministry or Higher Education, Research and Innovation just published the results of the 9th survey about professional insertion of university graduates, and noted a continuous improvement.

This is a regular survey assessing the professional situation of French university graduates in initial training (18 months and 30 months after graduation). The survey takes into account DUT (University Degree of Technology), professional Licence degrees, and Master’s degree.

The survey assesses the level and quality of professional insertion at national scale in each field of study, and provides points of comparison between universities.

Continued improvement

According to the Ministry in charge of higher education, the new edition “confirms that the situation of university graduates on the labour market improves every year”.

In details:

  • for Master’s degree graduates, the insertion rate grows by 1 point compared to the previous year: 87% of graduates are incorporated at 18 months and the insertion rate at 30 months is stable at 91%;
  • in Professional Licence course, 94% of graduates are incorporated at 30 months, a 1-point growth. The insertion rate at 18 months is 91%, a 1-point growth too;
  • for DUT graduates, the employment rate at 30 months grows by 1 point, and by 4 points at 18 months (86%).

Gaps between fields of study

However, a background note adds that gaps between fields of study are still significant. As an example, the insertion rate at 30 months for Master’s degree graduates is 93% in law-economics-management, 92% in sciences-tech-health, but only 87% in social and human sciences, and literature-languages-arts. Whatever the conclusion, the Ministry said: “University degrees, and professional Licence degrees and Master’s degrees in particular, are still an efficient protection against unemployment.”
