First year French university admission procedures
The Dossier Blanc application process for the 2017-2018 academic year is now open.
Please be aware that different procedures apply depending on the student’s nationality and high-school leaving certificate, and what study program they intend to undertake. For further information, please read this page carefully.
• French candidates:
All French candidates, regardless of their secondary education degree (French Baccalaureate, European Baccalaureate, Australian equivalent of the Baccalaureate, etc.), must enrol online through the following website: www.admission-postbac.fr.
• Australian candidates who have obtained / are preparing for the French or European Baccalaureate:
All Australian candidates who have obtained / are preparing for the French or European Baccalaureate must enrol online through the following website: www.admission-postbac.fr.
• Australian candidates who do not have the French or European Baccalaureate:
* If applying for a selective non-university undergraduate course (CPGE, BTS, Ecoles, etc.), you must enrol online through the following website: www.admission-postbac.fr.
* If applying for a selective undergraduate course at a French university (DUT, DEUST, D.U.), you must enrol online through the following website: www.admission-postbac.fr.
* If applying for a non-selective undergraduate degree at a French university, you are required to fill out the "Dossier Blanc".
Applicants are required to have the following high school leaving certificates, according to their State of residence:
HIGHER SCHOOL CERTIFICATE (HSC) - ACT and NSW
TERTIARY ENTRANCE EXAMINATION - WA
SOUTH AUSTRALIAN CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION - SA
SENIOR CERTIFICATE - QLD
VICTORIAN CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION - VIC
TASMANIAN CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION - TAS
This is a basic requirement. Each university may apply additional entry requirements.
You will have to demonstrate French language skills.
Candidates are required to be in possession of the DELF (level B2) or the DALF (levels C1/C2). Those who do not have the DELF or DALF will be required to contact their local Alliance Française to obtain the TCF DAP. Registration for the TCF DAP must be done prior to submitting your application to the Embassy.
Attention: Candidates who originate from certain countries must simultaneously request their Dossier and their Long Stay Visa for France via the internet, after opening an account with the Campus France website for their country of residence. Applications must arrive at the Embassy by close of business on January 22 2017.
Please note that additional documents will not be accepted past the deadline. Only complete applications will be reviewed.
Please be aware that the Dossiers Blancs and the Admission Post-Bac are not the only methods of entry into first year university courses in France- it is possible to gain entry in January/ February at certain universities/ schools. If you require information on alternate entrance pathways into first year university courses outside the Dossiers Blancs and Admission Post-Bac systems, please be sure to contact the admissions office of the specific university or school you are interested.
