The number of French speakers around the world is projected to grow from 220 million today to 700 million by 2050.

How can we best prepare the next generation of French learners and teachers to thrive in francophone environments of the future? Your ideas are needed!

The President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron launched on January 26th a global call for ideas to energize the French language, support French teachers and learners, and promote multilingualism worldwide. The ideas platform, Mon idée pour le français is facilitated by the Institut Français, an agency of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in charge of cultural diplomacy initiatives.

The global consultation went live today and has already catalyzed hundreds of ideas from around the world. Ideas include a literary prize to inspire young francophone authors, stipends for early-career French teachers, mobile film-making kits, and more.

Ideas can be submitted online by native and non-native French speakers alike by March 20, 2018.

Ideas will be reviewed by the Institut Français and authors of the most promising submissions will be invited to Paris to present their ideas.

Visit Mon idée pour le français to learn more and to submit your idea today.
