Overview

Welcome to the University of Orleans!

Founded in 1306, UO celebrated its 700th anniversary in 2006. Famous personalities have studied here, including Pope Clement V, Molière, Jean Calvin, Charles Perrault etc.

Situated one hour from Paris, in the heart of a wooded and green area of about 100 hectares, the multidisciplinary campus of the University of Orléans attracts and welcomes today about 19,000 students, including more than 2,000 students of foreign nationalities, i.e. 15% of the total number of students. It also has 6 sites in the Centre Val de Loire region in Blois, Bourges, Châteauroux, Chartres, Issoudun and Tours-Fondette.

 

Main sectors

The University of Orléans offers training courses in line with the LMD system (Licence, Master, Doctorate) in the fields of law, economics, management, literature, languages, human and social sciences, science, technology and health.

Research

Reopened in 1961 on the Orléans La Source campus, UO is close to major research organisations such as CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research), BRGM (French Geological Survey) and INRA (French National Institute for Agricultural Research).

It has :

    27 research laboratories
    4 Doctoral Schools hosting 450 doctoral students per year
    50 patents and 100 theses defended per year.
