Ranked the top university in France, Pierre and Marie Curie University (UPMC) (formerly University of Paris 6) has an enrolment of 30,500 students, with one third of its students in medical programs.
Located in the heart of Paris, most facilities are on the main Jussieu campus, which is newly renovated. UPMC also has three oceanology observatories at Roscoff (Atlantic Ocean), Banyuls and Villefranche-sur-Mer (Mediterranean Sea).
In medicine, UPMC’s five medical institutes work with 7 major teaching hospitals.
With 2,500 professor-researchers and 3,300 doctoral candidates in 16 doctoral programs, UPMC awards 800 doctoral degrees every year.
